This phrase is used most commonly when someone is very surprised by something and opens their eyes wide. I put flying saucers over the guy&#8217;s eyes to represent the main part of the metaphor. The background is a fireworks show because I thought that&#8217;s a surprising type of event. For the pattern I used it&#8217;s a repetition of three symbols. An open eye to represent watching something closely or intrigue. A head with swirls coming out of it to represent a blown mind.
