DMA 214 – Project 4 Stamps

Project Reflection:

What did you learn?

I learned how to implement all of the knowledge and skills from the previous projects into this one.

What was easy?

Selecting the setting. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Silent Hill franchise. Being able to choose a setting from anywhere either in reality or fiction made this an incredibly easy choice.

What was challenging? How could your submission be improved?

Selecting which locations from Silent Hill to fulfil the project requirements. There are many locations you visit within the series but picking out the right ones was challenging and I had to redo the stamps many times before I settled with the ones I have. I could improve it by adding more nods to the series and improving dome of the typography used.

How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

Professor Dunkle could probably improve the assignment by requiring less stamps but a single more detailed stamp that incorporates all the same requirements.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

By being able to apply what I’ve learned with color theory, imagery, and typography I can creatively make just about anything with only my creativity and time limiting me.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The previous lab regarding typography really helped me diversify how all the text in the project should be. Originally I was going to use text styles similar to the series the setting is from but that would’ve made the stamps too similar to each other, rendering them boring.
