Project 1

  1. What did you learn? I learned or more so refreshed my memory on all the adjustment layers photoshop has to offer. I also learned how to use the image trace feature in illustrator a lot more in depth. Lastly I found out about completely new tools such as the smudge tool which helped me immensely in the project.
  2. What was easy? The easy part of this project was coming up with the idea for it. Another easy part was arranging the composition together whether that be the portrait itself the background or other things I added.
  3. What was challenging? A challenging part of this project was I had to keep making minor adjustments to the image trace because I was picky with the results. Another challenge was finding a colorway I liked, as I changed the color pallet multiple times.
  4. How could your submission be improved? I think my submission could be improved by making it look messier as that’s the look I’m going for. I used the smudge tool to make it look more natural and I think it’s a good start as least. Another thing I could improve is the background. I just kind of through that background together at the end and it looks okay but I think it could be better.
  5. How could the professor improve the assignment? I don’t think there’s anything to improve with this project. It was pretty straightforward and was pretty lenient on what drawing techniques or adobe platform you used.
  6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I now have an expanded knowledge of the options I can use when dealing with a portrait. I could apply this knowledge I gained in a work scenario to create portraits for potential clients as there is a big market for content like that.
  7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? A specific piece of media that influenced me greatly was the album graduation by Kanye West . It inspired me because I used a similar color pallet to that on the album. I also used a clipart of the bear that is present on the album cover.
