1. What did you learn?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this project, I learned about the Arts and Crafts movement and a couple of famous designers from this period. I also found out that the movement has a few local connections! Dard Hunter, who the typeface I used was named after, worked as a graphic designer with the Roycrofters in East Aurora. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. What was easy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finding a typeface associated with the Arts and Crafts movement was easy, as I very quickly found a font family on Adobe Fonts just by searching “arts and crafts.” Finding information about this design period while researching for this project was also easy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. What was challenging?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Something that was more challenging was figuring out how to add a drop cap in Photoshop, since Photoshop doesn’t have a tool for drop caps like InDesign does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. How could your submission be improved?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I might improve my submission by finding a way to integrate more of the suggested typographic elements from the assignment instructions, specifically a pull-quote and\/or bullets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I thought that this assignment worked well as is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I liked the approach of starting with a specific time period \/ design era as inspiration, so I think this might be something helpful to implement in future projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I found a lot of inspiration looking at examples of William Morris’ patterns. I noticed lots of floral elements and symmetry, so I worked off of that to create my own pattern in Procreate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
