- What did you learn?: When working on this project I learned how to use InDesign for the first time. I have normally used the program Canva, which sets up the formatting for you, so this was a bit more to get used to.
- What was easy?: This project was not easy. This was the first time that I used the program InDesign, so not only was I working to make a final product that I am proud of, but I was learning a new program.
- What was challenging?: One thing that was challenging was formatting my tri-fold menu to print. I decided to use boxes to compartmentalize each package for purchase and lining up the boxes with the fold was not easy. Also I am a little bit heavy handed on the xacto knife so every time I would go to make a crease in the menu I would cut through the paper or the table tent.
- How could your submission be improved?: I feel as though my submission could be improved if I was able to get the boxes perfectly in the center of each page. This is something that I was working a while on and did not get exactly like I wanted for my printed submission.
- How could the professor improve the assignment?: I think that if the printing instructions were written on the instruction sheet then I would not have wasted so much paper, but otherwise that is the only thing that I would have changed.
- How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?: Now that I know how to use InDesign I will plan to use the program to work on other projects.
- How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?: One of the resources that helped me was looking at menu inspiration on Pinterest. My dad’s business has a more rustic look and I liked the chalkboard style to add a bit of character.
