Project 4: Happiness found around the world and in our own neighborhood

For this last project, I decided to chose the word “happiness” for our emotion video, and one of the things that makes me the happiest is when I am traveling the world. However, as I grow older and learn to appreciate Buffalo’s beauty and everything it has to offer, I find myself really happy that I grew up in this amazing city and grateful that I get to call this place my home. When filming the videos that I took in Buffalo specifically for this project, I got to appreciate its beauty and hidden gems even more.

REFLECTION:

1. What did you learn? For this project I learned how to use Soundtrap for the soundtrack of my video. I have had previous experience with Adobe After Effects and Premiere, yet this was my first time ever learning about Soundtrap.

2. What was easy? The easiest part of this project was gathering the videos that I wanted to use because I immediately knew which ones I was going to use when I chose “happiness” for my emotion. Also, I have been making and editing videos for a couple years now so figuring out Premiere was really easy for me along with having knowledge from different classes.

3. What was challenging? The most challenging part was working with Soundtrap since it was my first time ever working with it. It was difficult for me to make a song that actually sounded well and not just a bunch of random beats and noises. It took lots of tries to get to my final song and it was honestly a little stressful but I ended up being happy with my end result.

4. How could your submission be improved? One thing I could do to improve my submission is to probably make my soundtrack a little better and longer. I feel like I could have added more beats and add more variety but granted that I have never used Soundtrap before this project, I think I did pretty well for my first time.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class? The only thing I might suggest would be to add links to a bunch of Soundtrap tutorials on Youtube because it was difficult at first, but other than that, I liked this project alot since I love taking videos.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I have always had a love for taking videos and would be thrilled to do it for my future career, so I have the knowledge from using After Effects and Premiere which will definitely benefit me when appling to jobs that require experience with either of those softwares.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? The biggest thing that helped me with this project was watching a ton of Youtube tutorials on how to use Soundtrap. It was really challenging trying to figure it out without any other videos so after I watched a few, I got the hang of it.
