Game Design Project

(picture will be added later)

  1. What did you learn?

In this project I learned how to use Unity and its various features to help design a terrain for a game.

  1. What was easy?

It wasn’t easy to say the least. I’ve never worked with Unity before so it was difficult getting used to the mechanics.

  1. What was challenging?

Initially it was due to the assets we used not working and causing problems for the game itself but the professor helped us fix this. After getting comfortable with where things were in Unity and its controls, it got less challenging and more familiar and easier to use.

  1. How could your submission be improved?

I could spend more time on the details but cleaning up the edges of the terrain and maybe play more the direction of the light. I could also add my own sounds to he game for instance the sound that the character makes when it walks or jumps.

  1. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

The professor could have maybe made their own game more recently and then gave it a test run with the assets we used. This would help us to know in advanced what assets do and don’t work.

  1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Through this assignment I am now prepared to use the skills I’ve learned in Unity for future projects that I may need to design in Unity for my future job.

  1. How did a specific reading or video found outside of class  inspire or help you?

I used the lectures given in the class to help guide me step by step on how to set up my terrain, light source and FPS controller.
