- What did you learn?
For this project I learned how to code using the application Visual Studio Code. We worked with index.html as well as style.css. Within the written code script we were given, I learned how to edit text and color style for my website. I also learned the importance of having a set up file system to ensure that everything was linked for my website to work.
- What was easy?
In my opinion it was a bit of a struggle at first because it was a completely new domain for me. It was frustrating at times because I kept getting errors with my links, but after I took the time to learn why the problems occurred it became a lot easier.
- What was challenging?
It was challenging at times due to the fact that a little mistake could cause an error for the whole website. So you have to be very tedious and cautious of how you a writing/rewriting in code.
- How could your submission be improved?
I would like to learn on how to space out text and images on a website through coding as well as placement. On my contact page I could change the colors of the text boxes as well.
- How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
I think implementing how to do spacing/placement on our websites would be beneficial.
- How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I’m very interested in coding/wanting to make web sites especially in regards to helping market products for businesses. Even though we only did a brief amount of coding, it helped me understand what coding looks like and what steps are crucial when considering making websites with code.
- How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
Looking at the professors website gave me an idea of how my layout should look like. With the content and color scheme, I took inspiration from my website I made on Wix.com. It was interesting seeing the different ways someone can make a website whether that be from scratch with code or through a website program online.
