Project 3: Image

  1. While working on this project, I found that writing your ideas down on a piece of paper really helps with your creative process. Before I used to brainstorm without writing anything down, and this caused a lot of confusion about how I wanted the final result to look. Now, I can look back and have a clear idea about what I want my project to look like.
  2. The easiest part of this project was using the plugins in Figma. By using the plugins, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. Before, I would have to search the internet for non-copyrighted images, but with the plugins, you have access to an unlimited amount of images.
  3. The most challenging part of this project was masking. I had only ever masked with Photoshop before, so learning a different method was challenging.
  4. My submission could be improved with scale and skew. I had a difficult time positioning the necklace to make it look like the woman was already wearing it.
  5. For the next class, this project could be improved by allowing the students to choose their own backgrounds. I found it difficult to try and incorporate the background I made in iconify with the images I combined.
  6. In the future, I can use my new knowledge of writing down my ideas instead of making a mental note of them. Although very simple, having your ideas on a piece of paper can drastically change how your project ends up.
  7. James Geary’s Metaphorically Speaking Ted Talk was very helpful in understanding metaphors and how we react to them. I found the Stroop test and cognitive dissonance to be the most interesting. https://www.ted.com/talks/james_geary_metaphorically_speaking
