- While working on this project, I found that writing your ideas down on a piece of paper really helps with your creative process. Before I used to brainstorm without writing anything down, and this caused a lot of confusion about how I wanted the final result to look. Now, I can look back and have a clear idea about what I want my project to look like.
- The easiest part of this project was using the plugins in Figma. By using the plugins, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for. Before, I would have to search the internet for non-copyrighted images, but with the plugins, you have access to an unlimited amount of images.
- The most challenging part of this project was masking. I had only ever masked with Photoshop before, so learning a different method was challenging.
- My submission could be improved with scale and skew. I had a difficult time positioning the necklace to make it look like the woman was already wearing it.
- For the next class, this project could be improved by allowing the students to choose their own backgrounds. I found it difficult to try and incorporate the background I made in iconify with the images I combined.
- In the future, I can use my new knowledge of writing down my ideas instead of making a mental note of them. Although very simple, having your ideas on a piece of paper can drastically change how your project ends up.
- James Geary’s Metaphorically Speaking Ted Talk was very helpful in understanding metaphors and how we react to them. I found the Stroop test and cognitive dissonance to be the most interesting. https://www.ted.com/talks/james_geary_metaphorically_speaking
