Project 4: Typography

I learned how positioning and placement can change how the audience reacts to something you create. The fonts you use, and the colors you use, all play into how the audience may view your piece.

Even though the main goal of this project was simply to fit words together, I found it to be challenging. I was constantly thinking about the different ways that the words could be placed together. Was there something that I was missing, what if this word looks better vertical, or horizontal? I was consistently rearranging the words to see if they looked better a certain way.

I think my submission could be improved by using up more of the frame. Looking back at my frames now, I notice a lot of white space.

Allowing the students to add color and shapes, may add a different challenge to the project.

Spacing is one of the most important things I have learned from this project. The rule of thirds is something I will definitely use in future projects.

Our ‘Type in Design‘ slideshow was the most helpful for me during this project. Contrast was the most interesting topic for me, I like how adding something unexpected can change the direction of the project.
