Project 1: Holiday Card Photoshop

Project Reflection

  1. While working on this project, I learned how to use layer masks in Photoshop. They came in handy when hiding messages in the text on the candy hearts!
  2. The easy part of the project was choosing a theme and designing the card. I work out ideas in my sketchbook first before even opening Photoshop.
  3. The challenging part of the project was isolating the images I used from their original backgrounds. The fur was a pain.
  4. My submission could be improved by adding a cheesy Valentine’s Day poem to the inside of the card.
  5. The professor could improve the assignment by encouraging us to think outside the box and make up our own holiday! Extra points if we can convince someone that the bs holiday actually exists by giving them our card.
  6. I can apply this newfound Photoshop experience when making advertisements for Canisius Zoological Society, a club that I am a leader of. I can also make cards for my friends in the future instead of buying generic greeting cards from a store.
  7. I had to look up on youtube how to make text appear rough around the edges, which enabled me to make my candy heart text look more realistic.
