For this project, I learned how to completely create a new figure of a chess piece with unique set of power. My piece is based around water. The top part looks like a water fountain, but I tried to make the bottom look like ripples in the waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since I used Blender instead of Maya for this exercise, I decided to redo the entire pawn lab to make the chess piece for this assignment. I don’t know how to do the Arnold model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was easy: I really liked using the sculpting models and different textures that we get to imprint on the chess piece. This, along with the techniques in the last lab, was fairly simple to accomplish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was difficult: I think using the camera and rendering was the most difficult aspect of this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could your submission be improved: I would have liked more color and light on my chess piece. The ocean waves are composed of many different shades of blue, but my piece only came out with one shade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could the professor improve the assignment: I think these creative topics are really fun to work on and tweak. The only thing I would suggest is that during the lecture he only demonstrate the project using Maya and not Blender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? I think these creative topics are really important working on animation and how to mold and film 3d models of characters for animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? There was no reading or video that inspired me. However, I loved this image of the ocean waves. This made me start thinking of the different power set of my chess piece. Maybe whenever you move the piece, it causes the other player’s pieces to ripple back a couple of steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, this project was really creative, interesting, and fun to accomplish. Creating a new chess piece needed some inspiration and creative thought, as well as the techniques needed to execute my vision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
