In this lab, I learned how to create, print, and ‘mock up’ a Halloween card. In particular, I applied using the pen and brush tools, as well as the foreground and background layer masks together in order to create a card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was Easy: Unlike the other labs, this was not an easy project to finish. Everything, from the creativity of the card, to printing the card multiple times for perfection, was difficult. It wasn’t immensely difficult, there were just tiny obstacles that grew as I moved throughout the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was Hard: There were many obstacles I encountered while creating the card. Firstly, I was stumped on the design of the card. As my card was halloween-themed, I didn’t want my design to look overly scary to the point of it looking jarring. Still, I had to put something<\/em> that has the spirit of Halloween. I also had trouble with printing out the piece. As I stated before, I am a perfectionist, so every minute flaw that I picked up means I had to adjust it to make it perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could my Submission be improved: I really didn’t like my layer masking of the witch silhouette. It could easily blend in to the background, and it’s not impressive. However, I couldn’t think of a picture to make the foreground pop out without making it look cheesy. I definitely made it too simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How could the professor improve the assignment: I think the professor’s goal of layering the knowledge that we gained and put it into one project was great. Needless to say, the professor’s expectations were well thought out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application of Knowledge: I definitely think I can apply this knowledge to physically creating a card for friends and family. I also can use it for next assignments for editing critically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did a specific reading or video inspire you: I looked online for some inspiration about creating cards, and I noticed a theme of an orange background and shadows to create the spirit. I also like the idea of putting jokes on the card, so I picked one that would make me smile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, I created a Halloween card, applying layer masks, the pen and brush tools and any other tools that we learned in the past. Even though I definitely have mistakes, I am grateful that I can now apply the techniques I used into a great project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
