1. What did you learn?
While completing this project, I learned about multiple aspects of filmmaking such as the inclusion of still images and using effects such as the Ken Burns effect to make them move. I also learned how to integrate my GarageBand audio file into the video.
2. What was easy?
For me, the easiest part of the project was importing my media into iMovie as well as adding transitions between my video and still image media. Although iMovie isn’t as powerful as Premier Pro, it was very straightforward and easy to use overall.
3. What was challenging?
The most challenging aspect of the project was finding a computer that would actually allow me to use Premier Pro. The lab computers would open the program but crash whenever I attempted to add my media to the video timeline. That is why I had to use iMovie for this project.
4. How could your submission be improved?
My submission could have been improved if I had been able to use Premier Pro without it crashing. I feel that since it is a stronger and more advanced program than iMovie, I would have been able to use effects and filters that iMovie did not offer. I think I also could have included more video clips to separate the still images.
5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?
I don’t see many things that could really be improved. I just think iMovie should be an alternative for students who encounter the issues with Premier Pro as I did. That was the one issue I had during the whole project.
6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
I can use my knowledge of filmmaking to make promotional videos, complete projects for other classes, or even for my club’s social media pages.
