Reflection:

  • What did you learn?
    • I learned how to properly use paragraph and character styles, how to embed links so you don’t lose your photos, and overall got a better understanding of InDesign.
  • What was easy?
    • It was easy figuring out how I wanted my menu to be formatted. There were many directions I could have gone, but I decided early on that I liked the bigger panels since it allowed me to be more organized with my menu items.
  • What was challenging?
    • It was challenging figuring out how to get all the measurements correct for things to fold properly and for the content on the back and inside to have consistency without breaking the styles.
  • How could your submission be improved?
    • I spent a lot of time working on both my menu and table tent, so I don’t think anything can be improved upon at this moment.
  • How can the professor improve the assignment in the future?
    • I don’t believe anything needs to be changed about the assignment for the future.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
    • I’ll apply my knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios with all the tools and skills I learned in InDesign that I mentioned in the first question. If I work on anything that contains a lot of content, I will implement linking text boxes and using paragraph and character styles.
  • How did a specific reading, video, or example inspire or help you?
    • An example that inspired me was from a photo that was shown on the introduction day of the assignment. The photo was of a menu, and the front of it opened like mine, with the words on the front being split in half by the opening. This is what inspired me to do the split approach with the front of my menu.
