  1. What did you learn?

I learned how to develop buttons for the app. Creating different flows and such for the apps was interesting. Also doing animations for the buttons on the app was a interesting process.

  1. What was easy?

Creating the flow of he app from button to each page was easy. I liked making the connections from page to page. Also it was easy to

  1. What was challenging?

I had issues with variants of the buttons. It would adjust sizes and colors that I wasn’t expecting. I would like more explanation on that. Maze is a issue

  1. How could your submission be improved?

I would like to have ability to scroll on pictures. But thats a Figma issue.

  1. How could I improve the assignment for the next class?

Show us how to use maze more. More direction on project. Too open ended.

  1. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Give more direction on how much to do for the app.

  1. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

I was inspired by instagram and their algorithms to show your post. I was tired of missing post from my Buddys as sports pages would hit me with more post.

DMA 217 Project #1

  1. What did you learn? How to create a system and use to prototype to send you from page to page on the app.
  2. What was easy? Designing the button was very easy.
  3. What was challenging? Creating the type area. It was difficult to navigate on Figma. I also would have liked more direction on the project. It felt rather loose. Maze was hard to navigate for me . I dont understand the “test”
  4. How could your submission be improved? With more guidance on our project. More structure. I couldn’t figure out Maze. I might try to do this after the due date.
  5. How could I improve the assignment for the next class? More structure on the project would have helped.
  6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? Asked more questions to the teacher about my project. Finish it earlier.
  7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? Refer to a specific reading or link for this; do not reference a class video or lecture. I used the sites that we were given on the project site guideline. Specifically https://zapier.com/blog/best-todo-list-apps/#todoist

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I think this assignment was well designed. Maybe a step by step on how to do the masking to make it the most clean image.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Image masking I will use in the future.

4. How could your submission be improved?

I think I should have made my roads a little more clearer. But it works. I would also maybe pick a better color scheme.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I think this assignment was well designed. Maybe a step by step on how to do the roads to make it the most clean image.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Project #3

1. What did you learn?

Ive never used illustrator that much and this was a good experience. I learned how to create a pattern and this will be a useful step going forward.

2. What was easy?

Creating the pattern. Following the guidelines was very helpful. I thought the step by step was easy to follow for this project.

3. What was challenging?

Deciding what to do for the background was kinda difficult. I also had a little trouble folding the paper into the carton shape. It took little time but I figured it out.

4. How could your submission be improved?

I think I should have made my background a little more clearer. But it works.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I think this assignment was well designed. Maybe a step by step on how to fold it would be helpful?

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

Creating patterns and using guides to create paper outlines. This would be good in the future.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The words “half and half” inspired me to put it as the background of my background. I decided to write it so it was discrete.

DMA 212 Lab 1

Lab 1 : Acquiring Photos

by Alex Jones

sleeping dogmy image

The Top image is my image I took and the bottom one is the unsplashed image. The professional image has a slight tear in the carpet. Also the dog is sleeping . My image Bentley, is slightly staring into the camera after closing his eyes.

My magazine cover has more color which is better it is fresh update to the 1960s ad.

This is from the 1960s and it is hard to read and understand the ad. Good to see that now the ads appeal to more and send their message.

Scans help add depth the images, with the 3d object it helps give depth to the image.

Project #4- DMA 214- Chicago- Jones

I decided to do my project on the city of Chicago. I have never been but I have been told this is a beautiful city.

  • What did you learn? How to manipulate Text and images to create mail stamps.
  • What was easy? Finding a topic, I thought of Chicago, because they are known for their sports, their food, their architecture.
  • What was challenging? Finding Chicago’s history was the toughest part, I was thinking Obama would be sufficient because what he did was never done before.
  • How could your submission be improved? I think I should have diversified my colors of my food slide.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? This would be better if you could do multiple stamps of one topic maybe, like I could have made 4 slides of the sports teams, or multiple of the food.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? Using color has a big effect on font, images and everything in the graphics department.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?I saw this video of someone eating these Chicago hot dogs and it looked really good.

Fork in the road -Project #3- Jones

Fork In the road.
  • What did you learn? I learned how to use the brush tool and many others aspects of the GIMP software, this application is helpful for editing images
  • What was easy? Choosing my metaphor, I went with fork in the road because it doesn’t actually mean theres a fork in the road, it could mean that there are other ways to continue down the road.
  • What was challenging? I had a tough time exporting the gimp file into Figma, once I realized that it had to be in PNG format I figured it out.
  • How could your submission be improved? I think if I would have played more around with the fork on the road It may look cleaner.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class?I would open up the metaphors to anything, although it is still very easy to find a metaphor.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? In the future I will have to use gimp/ adobe photoshop to manipulate photos. This will be very needed. With more practice I will get better and better at it.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? My mom thought of fork in the road and I rolled with it.

Project #2

  • What did you learn? I learned how to use the draw feature and how to change the gradients of the images. Also the effect of color on your work.
  • What was easy? I think it was rather easy navigating the different shapes this time around.
  • What was challenging? I had a tough time figuring out what color schemes go together
  • How could your submission be improved? If I would have played with the gradients a little more.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class? I think this assignment was fair and right.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios? Color makes a big difference in the images created. The effect is massive.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you? I looked at a few of the older blog post for inspiration on what to do for this project.

Project #1 – Alex Jones

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill – similarity
Went up the hill – repetition
To fetch a pail of water; -proximity
Jack fell down
And broke his crown, -closure
And Jill came tumbling after. -continuation.

What did you learn?

I learned the differences between the layouts and the start of how to manipulate Figma.

What was easy?

It was very simply finding a nursery rhyme to pick, I was thinking Jack and Jill from the start, it provides the best visuals.

What was challenging?

Deciding what lines of the rhyme were going to be what layout was the most difficult task. Also, it was rather difficult figuring out how to do figure ground.

How could your submission be improved?

Adding color would make the destination between Jack and Jill more obvious. It is a little tough to determine who is Jack and Jill at some points.

How could I improve the assignment for the next class?

I think this was a very fair assignment and was well described. I liked seeing all the other examples.

How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

This could work in designing logos or story boards, you really think about all the aspects of each line of the rhyme.

How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

I found this book in my house, “The Puffin Baby and Toddler Treasury” In this book they had Jack and Jill and there was drawing along with them.
