1. What did you learn?
    • I got better with Photoshop’s new AI object selection tools in order to remove some backgrounds (although some I still had to do by hand). I also used a trick we learned in Figma to add blurry sharks to the background.
  2. What was easy?
    • I had a good time going through stock image sites to gather things to cut out and put into the scene. It was really easy to find high quality images of fish and other aquatic life.
  3. What was challenging?
    • The most challenging part was coming up with what I was going to work on for my metaphor. Once I came up with “Sea of Trees”, the rest came easily, though.
  4. How could your submission be improved?
    • I think I could get a better diversity of aquatic plants if I had more time. Currently, I rely on horizontal flips and warping of the same image to create variety.
  5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?
    • I think this assignment was very well designed. If I had to come up with something, maybe focus less on Figma, since I don’t think its masking tools are the easiest to use/understand.
  6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
    • Being able to cut things out in Photoshop and put them into other scenes is a very generally applicable skill. I could see myself doing so in any graphics related task.
  7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
    • The article that had examples of visual metaphors was very helpful. I got a lot of inspiration from those.
