Project 2: Words

Sketches/Rough Drafts:

Final Product:

Reflection:

  • What did you learn?

I learned how to alter letters/words to represent specific meanings based on the movies I did my project on. I also learned how to kern and track my words to get the best look.

  • What was easy?

It was easy figuring out what movies I wanted to base my work on along with the ideas for each movie to represent a specific plot that happened in the movie.

  • What was challenging?

It was challenging at times with the civil war piece trying to give each letter a nice slanting look without ruining the legibility of each letter. It was also challenging working with the infinity war piece with so many components under one layer in illustrator.

  • How could your submission be improved?

I feel as though my submission can be improved if I could get the letters for the civil war piece to have sharper edges since moving the letters caused the straight edges to be wavy.

  • How can the professor improve the assignment in the future?

I don’t think anything needs to be improved on the professor’s end.

  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I might apply my knowledge in future assignments or work by if I need to make a design/logo I can tie in visual representations to show what the business/brand is working to do.

  • How did a specific reading, video, or example inspire or help you?

The “How We Read” article helped me determine the best way to slice my words for my infinity war piece, so you can still read it. The article talks about how it’s easier to read the top half of letters when cut off and harder to read the bottom half when cut off.
