Project 4: Infographics

1. What did you learn?

I learned how to create a town banner for my map, how to make a compass rose, and how to make a road with a dashed line.

2. What was easy?

I think that labeling the roads and choosing the font color and size was relatively easy. I also thought that creating the town banner was pretty easy.

3. What was challenging?

I found that creating the pattern for my trees was a little challenging as I was trying to make sure they did not overlap a lot. I also found that drawing the areas with the pen tool proved to be challenging because of how precise all of the corners had to be when making an area.

4. How could your submission be improved?

My submission could be improved by editing the compass rose to have more of an abstract feel to it. I could also experiment with different colors on the compass rose.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

I think the professor could improve the assignment for the next class by not requiring as many patterns to be used as it may be a little difficult to find things that could be made into a pattern.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I might apply my knowledge in future assignments to create another compass rose or town banner on another map. As for future work scenarios, making this map was very helpful and I can apply the basic knowledge I have learned here about how to create a map to make another one in the future of a town or area if my job requires it.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

The 14.1 class video on Zoom helped me to understand how to construct a basic compass rose as well as a more complicated one. I also learned how to making a scale after watching this same video.
