Project 2

1. What did you learn?

I learned how to create textures from images I already had and incorporate that into my backgrounds. Its really fascinating how you can turn something insignificant and make it into a statement.

2. What was easy?

Interestingly, making the layer masks after using the pen tool or object selection tool was the easiest part of this project. I feel like these parts of the project was easy for me because I enjoy using the pen tool and find it really cool that you can subtract the background from a specific picture by just adding a mask.

3. What was challenging?

It was really challenging to use the brush tool, and inserting what I made on the desktop portion and transferring that into the mobile version. I found the brush tool to not work even when I pressed the layer I wanted to brush on.

4. How could your submission be improved?

My submission can obviously be improved by me not going crazy with embedding many photos. I feel like since we were working with textures it made sense to me to have many layers and add them onto to each other but later I realized it was too much to control. Therefore next time I will limit my creativity.

5. How could the professor improve the assignment for the next class?

For next class I would recommend the professor not to give so many new materials at once because it gets confusing to remember the steps when doing the project on our own. Even though the directions are posted on D2L, I like it better when I fully understand one part then move to another.

6. How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?

I will definitely apply using layer masks after using the pen tool for future work scenarios because like I said earlier, its so cool to take a part of the picture and make the rest of it just disappear. I also find it to be useful for when trying to change a background.

7. How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?

This video of this girl cooking or picking out vegetables in the forest definitely inspired me! It just looks so peaceful to be surrounded by all things nature and nature itself has so many textures so I used pictures of plants and made textures as background for my project.
