Written by zxtheprotoFebruary 6, 2020April 12, 2022 Project 1: Some images of mine I’ve always been quite into tech, and this might be the coolest gadget I own. It’s the GPD Win, and it’s basically a fully-featured PC in about the form factor of a Nintendo DS. Of course, my love has always been for retro tech, and getting it working in the modern day. This is a modern, hyper-accurate Sega Genesis system released in 2019, which connects directly to a 1990s add-on and interacts flawlessly. I’m also quite into arcade games and pinball, visiting the ReplayFX gaming festival on a yearly basis. I even own an arcade cabinet myself – a WarGods cabinet converted for MAME – and a pinball machine, Williams Sorcerer. Like my brother, Calvin, I’m also quite a foodie. Here’s a recipe I made for a Ramen Egg Drop Soup. My mom introduced me to this, though. It’s a dark chocolate cinnamon mocha, and probably one of my favorite coffee drinks. That being said, I’m a soda junkie myself. Here’s a frosty mug of Hank’s Root Beer, which is referred to by many as the best root beer ever made. I’ve even tried New Coke! (Spoiler alert: it’s like regular Coke, but sweeter.) Recently, over the last few years, I’ve been getting into film restoration. This is a frame of a Barney Google short film, the sound of which has been lost and the video of which only survives through these rare home video prints. I’ve also worked extensively on the films of Richard Williams, an animator who passed away late last year. He was responsible for the animation in the film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”. This is a frame from one of his short films, “The Little Island”. My own artwork tends to be more sci-fi oriented. Take this pencil and pen sketch, “Voight, Queen of Earth”. Many of these pieces take place in the same universe, based on a game I started developing years ago. That sign, for instance, refers to OPAL, a colony in the 25th century. It’s where most of the story for the game takes place. Sometimes, though, these pieces are just for fun. Take Mr. Montana here, who was my attempt at an Indiana Jones-type character. I’ve also dabbled a bit with painting, like with this cute fox. Speaking of cute, whenever I’m not working on a project, I’m snuggling up somewhere with my pet cat Logan. He’s an adorable little buddy – and always getting into trouble. My photos
