Project #2: Color Scheme & Contrast

What did you learn?
I really enjoy Color. I like experimenting with different color palettes and sometimes I like limiting myself to only using one color. I did learn a couple new terms such as Split-Complementary color schemes Analagous color schemes.

What was easy? What was challenging?
I found the Urban City & Arid Desert the easiest out of the two. I found myself the most happy with those as I enjoyed the colors and shapes the most. I found the Seascape and Outer Space the most difficult.

How could your submission be improved?
I think I could improve the Seascape by making it look more like it’s heading into the deep-sea better. Possibly by making the bottom get darker and darker as it goes down. As for Outer Space, I’m not entirely sure what I could’ve done differently. I don’t find it BAD– but I think it could use a change. Maybe darker purples to make space look more like a void?

How could the professor improve the assignment?
I think the Professor could improve upon this project by challenging students to find their own environment and applying a color scheme to that (e.g. A rainforest with a analagous color scheme).

How can you apply this knowledge in future assignments and work scenarios?
You can apply color to many things in life. You can base an outfit around a color scheme or model your house with a color scheme. You can apply color to basically anything.

How did a specific reading or video inspire you?
If I had to pick something that inspired me to get into colorful environments– it would be the Spider-Verse movie. There’s so many good uses of color in that movie:
