The Finale: Project 4

It is now the end of the fall semester. Again. This definitely will not be the last time I post on this blog because I got one more semester before I graduate from Canisius. This final project was a roll over from the the third project.

Cover Image

During the project I learned how to put the pictures in so that they come out the size you want. Normally for Photoshop or Illustrator you can hold shift and you get straight angle for the photo and that is how you get the right size. With InDesign you do not need to hold shift for this to happen. If you actually hold shift you get the size of the of the photo originally and you cannot adjust it the right way. The easiest thing about this assignment was finding a theme for the stories and the images. I love the whimsical and nature theme that I have going on with the book. You would thing that with the cover image I was going completely minimalist style and that is what I thought as well. I guess my theme for the colors and images are all over the place but I like it a lot.

The biggest challenge I faced with this project was remembering all the technics that I was taught. I could not even name them all which is bad to say honestly. I also wish that I found a better pairing of type faces. I love Montserrat, its a good type face. It has plenty of different subfaces which I like as well. I do not like how playful Vidoloka looks. I should have gone with Times New Roman. It is a basic font but it is a good font.

Poem

The things to approve upon in this assignment would be the background for sure. I was trying to find the right light colored background that was not white. I like it I just think that it draws too much attention.

Like here on the story spread it blends too much with the type. I wish that I had found an alternative background.

Overall I like this project. If I had more time I would revisit it and redo it. This course this semester was interesting. It was not the most fun because I guess I am just not that into typefaces and typography. But I still appreciate the individuals that enjoy this part of digital design.
