Project 3: Packaging Design

Packaging:

Reflection:

  • What did you learn?
    • I learned how to design packaging while using a template, so I can properly place all the elements of the design. So when it is printed; and the package is constructed, it turns out how it’s supposed to. Along with that so nothing gets cut off, and everything is sized correctly.
  • What was easy?
    • It was easy knowing how I wanted my coffee cup and my background design to look. I already had the design and colors planned ahead of time.
  • What was challenging
    • It was challenging folding the paper into a carton because I didn’t have an Exacto knife to score the dotted lines, which would have allowed me to fold the paper easier.
  • How could your submission be improved?
    • To improve my submission, I could change the way I cut and folded the paper to turn it into a carton. At the top section, the folding is rough since so many pieces had to be folded in that small area.
  • How could I improve the assignment for the next class?
    • I don’t think anything needs to be improved for the next class.
  • How might you apply your knowledge in future assignments or work scenarios?
    • I’ll apply my knowledge of working with templates and placement of specific elements to future work scenarios, so everything that needs to be seen is in the correct position at the correct size.
  • How did a specific reading or video inspire or help you?
    • The demonstration in class not only helped me come up with design ideas but, it helped me with assembling the carton. I also looked at the Byrne dairy website to look at how to write an “our story” statement that would go along with the message the company was giving to their customers.
