Project 3 – Metaphors

In this project we worked in Photoshop and Illustrator to create a visual metaphor. I did “Love grows like a rose” and tried to visualize that by having a heart growing out of a flower stem.

It was easy coming up with the idea as well as working in Photoshop with masking the images and combining them. However, there were things I wanted to add to the project that I couldn’t figure how to do because of my lack of experience in the program. Such as creating shadow gradient on the heart to make it look more realistic..

I took a while for me to understand the pattern creation, but after I got it it was fun creating the pattern and figuring out how I wanted it to look.

adding shading and lighting to the rose and hand I think would make it stand out more with the background and make it look more realistic.

I changed the project from “Love is Blind” and though I liked the image, I do like the creepy imagery of the heart as well.

Next time I liked to be able to make the shading, but being able to combine images in photoshop makes working in the program in the future a lot easier.

I made up the new phrase for the image based on things said in class, but as the old saying of love is blind.
